Hare Krishna Food for Life – lunches for kids
We all know that there are children going to school hungry - but not all of us find a way to do something about it. Buddhi Wilcox at Food For Life is adamant that he and his team of volunteers are doing what anyone else would do They're nothing special. We disagree and that's why we supported his endeavours in 2014.
The Food for Life programme received from the Northland Community Foundation through the Tindall Foundation.
We currently run a community café 3 x a week( on a koha basis ) , which helps offset some of the costs that aren’t currently funded. We also have a stall on a Saturday morning during the Growers market to help raise funds and awareness of our programme.
We are also running a ‘$15/month’ fundraising campaign with the goal of encouraging 200 people to contribute $15/month AP . This will manintain the program at the current level of expenses . We currently have 38 people on this scheme .
Currently neither of these initiatives will sustain the programme, so we are looking for additional funding sources, working with encouraging private donors (both regular small amounts and larger corporate donors) and other initiatives to enable us to carry on our work.
